An Outline And And Thesis Statemen On Gun Control (Essay Sample) Content: Gun ControlName:Instructor:Corse Name:Date:IntroductionGuns control is the domestic act of regulating man-handling of the class of weapons called small arms which range from rifles, revolvers, carbines, pistols, assault rifles, light, and submachine guns. This is done by observing a set of rules and policies that supervise the manufacture, possession, transfer, sale, use or modifications of firearms by civilians. Most nations worldwide have very restrictive policies guiding firearms handling with very little permissive legislation to specific people who have only been licensed to have a gun. In the US, the F.B.I has been mandated by the Federal government to clear individuals seeking gun licensing by scrutinizing their criminal records through a monitored database system. The term gun control has been canvassed with those in favor of regulation championing the use of words such as gun safety, illegal/criminal access to guns or firearms regulation. This is in quest of curbing malicious acquisition and handling of firearms whose number keeps on rising daily with an estimation of 875 million firearms in the hands of law implementation agencies, armed forces and civilians globally as in 2007. Of these, 75% of are owned by civilians with the U.S civilians taking the highest share of 270 million. It is estimated that 200 million firearms are accessed by the States armed forces while agencies involved in law enforcement accounts for 26 million firearms of the total. 2 to 10 million of the global total of firearms are owned by gang members and non-state equipped groups. Thesis statement This study seeks to expound on the problems faced by the U.S government in controlling illegal fire arms giving much emphasis on the role of government/authorities involved in gun control, gun licensing, weapons trafficking, regional and international civilian guns control, audience objections, refutations, alternative solutions as well as the advantages and disadvantag es realized in this process by civilians and the government at large.Proposal I propose strict measures to be taken in legislation and categorical assigning of the individuals to own and handle a gun or not. There have been so many illegal avenues of acquiring guns in US some of which are government facilitated. The Federal government has been bestowed the role of keeping law and order to its subjects in all states. More so, every state has a ruling authority with specified jurisdiction to be followed in maintaining law and order while enhancing peace, cohesion, and tranquility to all the citizens. This has been made possible by the existence of armed forces and highly trained criminal investigators who are responsible for ensuring justice is observed in the community as law breakers are brought to books. Every state has guns legislation laws that clearly outline who is to be accredited the rights of owning and using guns categorically and for specified purposes. However, this process has been challenged by the existence of criminals a nd malicious law breakers who illegally acquire firearms using them to disrupt the normalcy in the society by forcefully engaging in unlawful activities such as burglary, theft, and murder for their own specified reasons. As specified by the second amendment of the Congress, the issue of guns ownership and use has been a serious debate over the decades with suggested legislation of individual guns ownership procedure favoring specific individuals especially the business tycoons, civil servants, and community-based people of certain socio-economic class. It has been a great challenge to control, manage and prevent crime in the US with some states like Alaska, California, and Arizona giving a cold shoulder on guns law legislation. As experienced in 1996, a total number of deaths as a result of gunfire in the US turned up to 34,040 people whereby only 3% of the total deaths were unintentional with the rest being suicide (54%) and homicide (41%) cases allegedly due to illegal gun owners hip and misuse of power. Though the rate at which illegal gun ownership and related crime has declined since it speak in the 80s and 90s, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) through the Uniform Crime Report suggested that there is still high crime rates and illegal gun-related violence in the US today with speculations of teenage involvement in this crime being on the rise posing a great threat to law keeping and order in the society. Sandy Hook Elementary School attack three years ago in Newtown leaving 26 dead and others badly injured shows how the scale of daring gunmen is increasing daily. With the high number of gun selling joints and corruption, the number of gun-related deaths and violence is expected to rise with attribution to doubling the natural death causes combined in recent future (Spitzer, 2015).Legislation authorities have the mandate to oversee legal acquisition of the firearms to control illegal/criminal acquisition of gunsGun legislation authorities in each state have the mandate to keep vigil of all the firearms in use and how legitimate is their use by the owners. Governors from every state have been entrusted with overseeing the formulation and legislation of gun laws in their respective states with some states like Delaware, Connecticut and Colorado advocating for background checks on gun purchase and ownership through advisory committees are reassessing security and safety measures in the states. The District of Colombia, for example, has the most restrictive gun control legislations in the nation with a strict ban on weapons assault especially by the military forces using the high-capacity magazines through the bill of buy-back program established for all its police officers. Kentucky and Kansas are looking forward to revising the ban on gun ownership and sue in public with even concern on the mentally ill issues on owning guns (McGinty, pp. 494-501, 2013).Problems faced in Gun licensingCorrupt legal procedures of acquiring fire armsThere has been reported corrupt and crooked ways of illegally acquiring firearms in most states. This is due to delinquency and egocentric nature of licensing officers in affected states. As reported by the criminal justice system, most civilians acquire guns through illegal means with some bribing the licensing officers while others smuggle them through back means. There are a high number of unlicensed guns whose actual figures cannot be realized since data collection on the same gets a little or unjust response. However, there is approximated 371 million firearms owned by civilians with an account of 80% of non-military gun manufacturing revenues in 2012 with an increase of handgun ownership by civilians from 35% to 52% from 2009 to 2014. A national survey in 2016 revealed that 36%-49% of households own guns an approximation of 235-36% adult guns ownership for protection, hunting or reactional purposes with men taking 45% of gun ownership while the women stood at 15%. This dat a indicates that though not clearly outlined the increase in illegal firearms ownership and gun-related crime can be attributed to corrupt ways of firearms acquisition with little or no monitory of its usage by the concerned authorities. Laws regulating legally acquired firearms are not followed to the letterMost states fall, victims of this problem, while few stands out with strict measures to control illegal acquisition of firearms. Colorado has been seen to observe its guns legislation hence reducing corrupt means of firearms ownership by unauthorized civilians while Idaho and Alaskas ban on guns registration call for high chances of increased illegal firearms in the society. There seems to be leniency in observing gun laws in some specified states with even some completely neglecting th...
